An opportunity has arisen within IT & Business Change and we are looking for an experienced Scrum Master to help our Customer Web Development team deliver amazing outcomes to help us meet growing demand in the business for our customers. You will become part of a fast-growing, progressive working environment as we continue to grow our business. As a member of the Portfolio, Projects and Scrum Team, you’ll be required to both support Product delivery within your scrum team(s) and also contribute to and help drive the team’s own internal continuous improvement strategy.


You will already have experience of helping scrum teams and will show the aptitude to develop an internal network at Greggs however, to be really successful in this role, we’re looking for candidates who are:

Work Pattern

Our working hours are usually Monday - Friday, you may be required to work alternative hours to fulfil business needs. We are open to discuss flexibility with regards to this working pattern with the successful candidate.

What you'll do

We are looking for someone who lives and breathes Agile and will evangelise its virtues at all levels of the organisation. You will be someone who already makes a difference, and we will give you the freedom and responsibility to continue doing so. You will have demonstrable experience as a Scrum Master alongside excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Reporting into the Portfolio Manager, the role will be expected to act as Scrum Master to product-aligned team(s) as part of our wider Next Generation Greggs initiative to help ensure important business goals and objectives are delivered timely and safely.

Support from line manager and team colleagues together with any relevant training will be part of this opportunity; we are an inclusive and supportive team and work together with each other so we can all fulfil our potential and deliver great outcomes for the greater good of Greggs.

Key Responsibilities

Facilitate Agile ceremonies (appropriate for Scrum), ensuring that best practice techniques are followed to maximise delivery (e.g. establishing and making visible team velocity and driving continuous improvement) .

· Increase Agile knowledge and understanding through ongoing coaching, mentoring and education of the stakeholders and the team.

· Ensure the adoption of Agile principles and practices and the implementation of these, leading to maturity.

· Ensure the teams actions are aligned with the product goals and vision

· Challenge business stakeholders to look at products/deliverables in an evolutionary manner, supporting Agile delivery methods.

· Produce relevant metrics that can be used to measure progress against product development and within the team's own performance. Proposing changes to the way of working when required.

· Develop the Scrum Service offer and highlight opportunities to engage and continuously improve.

About you

Essential skills:

· Ability to Work in a fast-paced environment and to respond rapidly to frequently changing requirements.

· Demonstrable experience of leading scrum teams delivering complex products.

· Thorough understanding of the fundamental processes behind Agile processes, and in depth knowledge of Agile frameworks.

· Be able to demonstrate an attitude of empowerment, leading a team to self-organisation.

· A role model that enacts Agile behaviours and the ability to mentor others on the Agile mind-set, behaviours, frameworks and practices.

· Display strong influencing skills with people at all levels of the business.

· A self-starter who is able to work comfortably using their own initiative.

· You are a natural problem-solver, with excellent organizational and analytical skills.


Desirable skills:

· Technical experience working with various web related technology stacks.

· Experience working in a customer focused area of a retail business.
