Greggs are looking for an experienced Payroll Administrator to join our Payroll team on a full time, permanent basis. The Payroll team are based at our Head Office in Newcastle upon Tyne.

You will be part of the team that deliver an efficient service to more than 20,000 colleagues that are paid weekly across our Retail and Supply Chain teams. We run on SAP Payroll software with integrated SAP SuccessFactors HR solution.

It is expected that the successful candidate will have previous Payroll experience and will have worked in a fast paced, high volume processing environment. Prior experience of SAP Payroll and CIPP Technician qualification are desirable.

Shift Pattern and Contracted Hours

35 hours a week, 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday

Job Description

The successful candidate will maintain effective procedures and processes to ensure accurate and timely delivery of Payroll to more than 20,000 colleagues that are paid weekly across our Retail and Supply Chain teams.

The key responsibilities and duties are:

  • Responsible for the daily advance BACS / out-of-cycle payments
  • Lead on statutory payments and statutory deductions from pay
  • Ensure all internal and external payroll deadlines are met
  • Review and validation of Payroll prior to BACS submission
  • Excellent working knowledge of Payroll processes and current legislation
  • Audit/compliance checks on Payroll and controls
  • Reconciling HMRC reporting and third party payments
  • Absence cover for Payroll Team Leader
  • Support Payroll processing when business demand requires
  • Oversee overpayment process to ensure costs are recovered in a timely manner and appropriate action taken to address root cause
  • Support SAP testing and team training for new tax year legislation
  • Assist with overseeing the resolution of queries from employees relating to Payroll; recognising when to escalate and be the first point of contact for escalation from the team
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, delivering agreed improvement initiatives.
  • Provide high standard of customer service, consistency with internal standards and operational compliance.

Skills

  • Experience in operating within a Payroll team
  • Experience in a high volume transaction processing environment
  • SAP Payroll experience desirable
  • CIPP Technician qualification desirable
  • Technical knowledge in payroll reconciliation
  • Excellent administration skills
  • Excellent team player being mutually supportive
  • Good communication skills, with excellent customer service
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Confident user of all Microsoft Office tools
