Vacancy Details

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to become a full-time Site Driver Trainer.  The successful candidate will join the existing Driver Training team and provide our drivers with industry leading training to ensure they drive safely, economically and remain legally compliant. This position will be based at Enfield Distribution Centre, however travel will be necessary to support other sites for a number of weeks throughout the year.

Pay Rates

Up to £36,977 per annum 

Shift Pattern and Contracted Hours

Working 45 hours a week, predominantly Monday - Friday, shift patterns and availability can be discussed at interview.

Job Description

  • Carry out driving assessments as part of recruitment process
  • Plan and review new driver training covering site introduction, routes, safe systems of work, Tacho procedures, defect reporting and walk round checks
  • Perform annual in cab driver assessments
  • Retrain underperforming drivers such as those with poor anticipation and/or high levels of harsh braking
  • Retrain and assess drivers following RTIs
  • Deliver DVC Training and Slow Manoeuvring Course as directed
  • Conduct Driver Assessments of Greggs Shop Maintenance Team as appropriate
  • Assist with the administration of RTI investigations and retraining
  • Carries out annual refresher training for Tachographs, Defect reporting and walk round checks.
  • Train drivers in vehicle and equipment (eg taillift) specific use
  • Carries out specific Tacho training with drivers who have infringed as agreed with site
  • Carries out safe systems training with drivers and loaders to include loading, deliveries, refuelling, use of tail lifts etc
  • Assists the Department in carrying out new shop reviews and reports back on any issues
  • In conjunction with site management identifies training & development needs within agreed transport areas and agrees action plan with ADI Trainers
  • Evaluates the impact of training and development activities to support improvement
  • Works with the site Learning & Development Facilitator to ensure all training is recorded, the correct process is followed and the correct documentation is used at all times

Skills

  • Minimum Category C driving licence.
  • Excellent standard of driver performance.
  • Proficient using Word, Excel and Powerpoint applications.
  • Experience of producing clear, accurate and concise written reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Strong understanding of current transport legislation and EU/WTD Regulations.
  • Confident in course presentation to groups. 
  • Able to work away from home, if and when required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Approved Driving Instructor.
  • PTTLS, Award In Education Level 3 or similar qualification.
  • RTITB, RoSPA or DIA qualified trainer.
