You will be contracted to work 45 hours a week, over 5 out of 7 days on a permanent basis.

Your shifts will vary across Monday to Friday and you will be based at our Birmingham supply site.

What you'll do

  • Facilitate vehicle familiarisation for all new starters across your sites: utilising the Calendar & Task Planner to schedule training dates in advance; ensuring all new starters receive the required compliance & operational training, work closely with transport teams to plan and schedule required training
  • Track progress on all training, highlight progress and raise areas of concern to line managers 
  • Conduct training on various licence classifications (Cat B, C, and C+E)
  • Deliver CPC courses and training relating to drivers’ hours / tachographs / WTD rules and regulations to new starters and existing employees as required
  • Use Telematics performance statistics and deliver training to proactively manage driver performance
  • Liaise with other personnel such as Transport Supervisors, Transport Team Leaders to maximise benefits for all training provided, ensuring that all training is relevant and in line with best practice
  • Assist in all incidents and accidents investigations in line with company policy
  • Cover other depots as required (overnight stays may be necessary)
  • Conduct Pre-employment assessments for both Permanent and Maintenance teams including Agency drivers
  • Demonstrate and train drivers in coupling of trailers, the SMC program, driving regulations, vehicle & trailer familiarisation programs and DVWC, full annual driving assessments for current drivers
  • Pre-employment Assessments for new drivers and provide information, advice and guidance

About you

  • A strong desire to work closely with your Line Manager and colleagues to achieve a consistent approach to training across all supply sites.
  • The willingness and ability to travel to other sites on an occasional basis
  • An understanding of Supply Chain Operations
  • Skilled in providing on the job training and coaching
  • Recognises when standards aren’t being met and knows how best to support
  • High regard for Food Safety & SHE
  • Written and spoken communication skills that allow you to inform and advise others clearly
  • Microsoft Office knowledge

Desired Qualifications:

  • PTTLS, Award in Education Level 3 or similar qualification
  • Presentation skills and some experience of accelerated learning techniques
  • Flexible in availability for working hours (as may be required to work different shifts each week or asked to work overtime).
  • Driving assessor qualified i.e. DIA, ROSPA, RTITB
